I think CeraVe PM Lotion is one of most talked about American skincare products. It’s the amazing cream that everyone swears by. I must say that it’s pretty good, I’ve used the old and the changed formulations. And I agree with people speculating that CeraVe PM Lotion was altered after L’Oreal had acquired CeraVe. Today I am going to talk about the international version of CeraVe PM Lotion, called CeraVe Moisturising Facial Lotion (or CeraVe PM Facial Moisturising Lotion). For now it’s available in Europe and Hong Kong, but I think L’Oreal will push the brand further to other markets in the future. 

What is CeraVe PM Lotion or CeraVe Moisturising Facial Lotion? In short, they are both excellent moisturisers containing 3 types of ceramides, niacinamide, cholesterol, and hyaluronic acid to keep the skin moisturised and restore its barrier. CeraVe are known for their patented Multivesicular Emulsion (MVE) technology which delivers lasting moisture to the skin throughout the day. Moreover, CeraVe PM lotion is fragrance- & oil-free (non-comedogenic). The international version has the same ingredients as the original product, the only difference being that the ingredients might be at different percentages. In the USA, the laws don’t require ingredients to be listed according to their concentration in a product, so only L’Oreal can tell the truth about it. However, I think they are the same or very similar formulas. 

For me, the PM Lotion always served as a day-time moisturiser. It was the case with the old formula, and it’s the same with the new one. I prefer something thicker at nighttime, but this moisturiser is also perfect for that. It feels like lotion/cream which absorbs quickly yet provides lasting moisture. The lotion works marvellously as a moisturiser for all skin types, as it doesn’t irritate or cause breakouts.  Without a doubt, it can easily be used by people who are prone to sensitivities, given you tolerate all of the ingredients. A lot of people with dry skin find this product enough on its own. If you use harsh treatments, like benzoyl peroxide, strong acids or retinoids, this is a great product to ease the irritation. It will soothe and hydrate, and it will help to sort out your skin’s barrier. It’s also wonderful on the go, to use throughout the day. It goes smoothly over sunscreens and doesn’t leave my skin oily. It can also serve as a great hydrator to prep your skin before applying makeup. 

Overall it’s a decent cream. I am very happy that CeraVe is finally available in Europe as I don’t have to order it all the way from the US. I highly recommend this product to everyone who looks for a light and hydrating moisturiser. It is suitable for all skin types, even sensitive ones. I am not sure if there is any difference between the PM Lotion and Moisturising Facial Cream, perhaps the latter feels a bit fluffier if it makes any sense. I don’t think the variance of textures necessarily comes from differences in formulas, but the pumps. The Moisturising Facial Cream comes in a closed-type tube with a pump, whereas, CeraVe PM lotion is packed in a regular pump bottle, which may contribute to how the products feel. Or maybe I just don’t remember the texture of CeraVe PM Lotion. One way or another, there are both great moisturisers.

This is the ingredients list that is printed on the back of my tube, but on the official CeraVe’s website, the ingredients are listed in a different order. I assume that the ingredients list above is correct, as it’s printed on the packaging.
