The Lululun masks are back! The Lululun Kyoto Sheet Masks review was my most read post in 2018. Every day there were dozens of people flocking in from Google just to read about those sheet masks. I just had to review something from Lululun again. As before, I’ve used these for seven consecutive days, in the morning or in the evening.

The main ingredients of the essence in which the masks are soaked are: peach juice from peaches grown around ‘Mount Fuji and the Southern Alps’ according to Yesstyle. So I assume the juice is a blend of French peaches and fruit grown in Yamanashi prefecture, hence the name. Then there’s also honey ferment filtrate, hydrolysed prunes, glycerine, and hyaluronic acid. I think hyaluronic acid is as important as peaches in this essence because the ‘Na’ symbol (which stands for sodium in chemistry) is clearly printed on the packaging. In this product hyaluronic acid is in the form of sodium hyaluronate, so the ‘Na’ has to stand for that. Without even reading any description online, I assume that Lululun promise that these sheet masks will be hydrating, even very hydrating. The question is, were they?

Well, they did hydrate my skin, but I don’t think they were anything spectacular. I had high expectations for these sheet masks, especially after trying the Kyoto version. However, these left me underwhelmed. They were nothing other than regular sheet masks. You know there are sheet masks that bring radiance, moisture, and might be even soothing. Then there are other masks which only moisturise the skin – these are the latter. I would even go to say that using Hada Labo lotion and Hada Labo Tokyo serum and then Hada Labo Tokyo Plumping Cream would give me better results. But then these sheet masks miss the point of using masks. I apply a mask because I want concentrated and instant hydration from it, not something I can achieve with my regular skincare. So I hope you understand my disappointment. They were nice to apply in the morning, no irritation even after shaving, but they were just not hydrating enough. I remember with the Kyoto masks that my skin was still hydrated and soft few days after I’d stopped using them; with these, I didn’t notice any of that. 

On the positive side, these sheet masks didn’t break me out, contrary to the Kyoto ones. I think the main reason for that is the essence being very runny, it felt like water, honestly. Another good thing is that they are alcohol-free, I know some people avoid alcohol in skincare. However, these sheet masks are scented, and you can sense it right after opening the packaging. The essence smells like a peach-flavoured fizzy drink, very sweet and summery. I must admit it was very relaxing, and I think it was the best aspect of this sheet masks, they helped me to unwind. I would love to have a candle or a room spray with this scent because it’s very delicious and refreshing. Though, it may also cause sensitivity, if you are reactive to fragrance. I was alright with it.

Overall these are just ordinary sheet, they will hydrate your skin, but won’t do much else. They are not bad, they are suitable for all skin types, but I wouldn’t go back to them. There are so many other sheet masks on the market. I would rather go for the regular version of Hada Labo sheet masks, they hydrate and are fragrance-free.
