OMI Brotherhood Sun Bears Active Protect Cool SPF 50+ –Review

When I first tried this sunscreen last year, I didn’t think that I would like it. But, as the heatwave came, and I did anything to stay cool, this menthol-enriched fluid came in handy. I regretted not buying more after finishing the bottle, so I had to repurchase it this year.

The formula includes mineral and chemical filters. It is enriched with sebum-absorbent powder and alum to limit secretions and odour, which were combined with a goodly amount of menthol to make this product a refreshing potion ideal for blazing summer days.Green tea, Chinese skullcap extracts, and glycyrrhetinic acid were added to soothe and aid skin hydration. The fluid is free of denatured alcohol, but it contains a bit of fragrance, though it shouldn’t be a problem for most people.

This sunscreen is lovely. It applies easily; the menthol kicks in from the beginning and provides a short-lived feeling of freshness. As for UV protection, it’s a much better choice than Shiseido’s UNO Gel. However, the finish is an acquired taste. Regardless of the amount, the fluid whitens the skin. I have a fair complexion, and it is pretty noticeable. I can only imagine how it would look on deeper skin tones. I only wear it during blistering heat when I need the menthol the most. You can see that in the video. Even though I didn’t use too much of it, definitely much less than what is used in testing, it left a whitish blotch on the surface. As a side note, the sunscreen is not sticky once it dries; I just didn’t want to wait longer for it to settle.

I think it’s best to use this fluid as it was intended for a prolonged activity outside or on the beach; it’s not meant for day-to-day wear. It fares fairly well in hot and humid weather, and it sweat-resistant too. Though, I am not sure if I can agree with OMI that it would be a suitable UV-protectant for doing spots, especially water sports. Technically, you can remove it with a wipe; I wiped most of it off my arm with a Dettol wipe after shooting the clip.
