This range is the high street version of Kérastase’s Densifique line. At least, that’s what I think it is because the Densifique products also have hyaluronic acid as the key ingredient. However, they aren’t that similar. I’ve used only three products from the Hydra Hyaluronic range, and here are my thoughts.
Shampoo
I am not picky about shampoos; I don’t like spending too much on them because I mostly use medicated shampoos. I need something to remove sebum and dirt. The shampoo from this line is pretty good. It does what it says on the bottle. I have no complaints; you can’t go wrong with this one. It leaves the hair clean and hydrated, still, you should always follow up with a hair conditioner, in my opinion.
Conditioner
This product has disappointed me. I have finished two bottles of the Hydra Hyaluronic conditioner, which has little to do with Kérastase’s equivalent (one of my favourites). I don’t have long or too demanding hair. I have fine hair that gets oily easily, so it doesn’t need too much hydration or anything of this sort. All I want from a conditioner is to add some shine and moisture, as well as make my hair manageable after washing. And this conditioner fails to meet the expectations. After using the product, my hair feels somewhat dry, and the comb doesn’t pass freely through my hair.
Hair Mask
This slimy, gel-like cream effectively delivers moisture to the hair. I don’t get 72 hours of hydration with this product; more like a day and a half. Probably I would’ve got better results if I’d used all of the potions from the range, but why would I? A conditioning mask should be able to nourish the hair on its own, as masks contain the highest concentration of ingredients in any lineup. Regardless, this product is satisfactory, a little goes a long way, and the treatment doesn’t leave the hair greasy or flattened. This hair treatment will work for most people, but I don’t think it would work for very dry hair; there are better-suited products from the Elvive brand for that type of hair. After all, the Hydra Hyaluronic range is meant for dehydrated hair.
All in all, all of the products are good value for money. Don’t approach the line like myself, hoping to get Kérastase’s quality with Elvive’s prices. It’s not going to happen. I like the shampoo the most, but I wouldn’t mind repurchasing the hair mask in the future.
