CeraVe’s cleansers divide people some like the Hydrating one, some the Foaming one. Everyone has a favourite; mine is the Foaming Cleanser. I have no idea how people use the other cleanser – it’s thick and doesn’t wash off. But, if you like it, then carry on using it.
This cleanser, like most of CeraVe’s products, includes niacinamide, three types of ceramides, and hyaluronic acid. The product also contains good, old glycerine, quite high on the list, as it’s second after water. The formula is fragrance-& sulphate-free. The product is targeted at normal to oily skin types. It’s not drying, so in my opinion, even people with dry skin would enjoy this product, at least during warm weather months.
Since CeraVe have launched in Europe, this has become one of my go-to cleansers. Now, it comes in a jumbo-sized, one-litre bottle, which you can get at bargain prices, even as low as €11. I use it all over my body, I keep a bottle of the cleaner in my shower, which serves me as a pre-wash for my hair (before my main shampoo), face & body wash. It includes premium ingredients, so it’s only reasonable to use this cleanser over any other shower gel or shampoo. It’s not often that you come across ceramides, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid in those products. Some people avoid it, but I wash my face in the shower. I take lukewarm showers throughout the year (hot showers dry out the skin), so I am alright.
This cleanser is called foaming, but it doesn’t create many bubbles, it’s not like your usual foaming cleansers. It just lathers slightly, so you can glide the product around and cleanse the skin. In my experience, it doesn’t strip moisture, nor does it irritate the skin. Even though the skin on my face is mixed, the skin on my body is dry all year round. I can never shower without using a moisturising product afterwards. This cleanser agrees with my skin, which doesn’t happen with every product.
For me, it’s a five-star product: affordable, great ingredients, washes off easily, suitable for sensitive skin and doesn’t dry out the skin. I recommend it to all skin types, but people with dry skin may not appreciate it very much during cold months – it’s really a personal thing. If you want a cleaner that gently cleanses your skin and includes skin-benefiting ingredients, this is the way to go.
