This is an exciting one; it’s like a guilty pleasure. It’s a foaming gel cleanser, and you can use it as often as you like. How many times have you heard that foaming cleansers are bad for your skin? I bet more than a hundred times. It’s true; foaming face washes aren’t the best for the skin. They usually have high pH and contain harsh surfactants, like sodium laureth sulphate, which make the skin dry and worsen preexisting conditions. As the skin is stripped of moisture, it becomes more difficult for it to return to its normal state. Micro-cracks occur, and they create a perfect breeding ground for bacteria. However, it’s not the case here. The pH of this cleanser was balanced in order to make this product as friendly for the skin as possible (the pH is between 5 – 6 and the pH of skin is about 5.5).
If your skin type is anywhere from acne-prone/oily to normal, you can easily use this cleanser. I mean normal when your skin doesn’t get too dry, too sensitive and isn’t too oily. I like to rotate my face washes, but I used this one a couple of times in a row, and my skin felt just fine. Despite the skin-friendly formula, I wouldn’t recommend this face wash to very dry and sensitive skin types. You would benefit from something more hydrating. The ingredients are satisfying; there are several soothing ones like green tea and evening primrose extracts, also saccharomyces ferment. As we know, ferments are very popular in the Asian beauty world – they give amazing results. Moreover, the cleanser contains betaine salicylate, a mild form of BHA that CosRX use in many of their products. Though, as you can see it’s a small amount so you won’t get much exfoliation with this product.
As the name indicates it’s intended for use in the morning, or as a second cleanse. I wouldn’t attempt to remove sunscreen or makeup with this product. It can do it, but I would advise using something oily or creamy first and then go in with this cleanser. Overall, it’s a fantastic product; it has a gentle formula, and I am sure many of you will enjoy it. It shouldn’t dry out your skin, but be cautious as with any product.
