Keeping with the theme of ferments, I will also review the SK II Facial Treatment Clear Lotion. It contains the ferment like the SK-II Essence, galactomyces ferment filtrate. However, this lotion is not all about ferments, but about skin clearing properties, aka chemical exfoliation.
This toner contains four acids, AHAs: lactic, citric, and malic acids; BHA: salicylic acid. There are glycerine and sodium hyaluronate to increase the hydrating properties of this lotion. Although there are four acids in this product, I would say it’s still on the milder side. I can easily use it after shaving without any irritation, given my skin is not compromised. I see results with this lotion. It definitely brightens my face and gives it a nice look, especially when combined with an essence. This serum contains BHA and loads of AHAs, but I would say it’s too weak to make your skin clear on its own. It can serve as a great addition to any routine. It can also be used as a weaker acid when you rotate between different exfoliating toners. I am not sure if the ferments, in this toner, give similar results as an essence would. Though, it makes my face appear more radiant.
It can be easily used by anyone regardless of skin type and age. It’s gentle and delivers mild exfoliation to the skin. My only problem with this toner is the price; it’s quite steep for what the product is. If you don’t buy it in a set or on offer, this toner is overpriced. I don’t believe it should cost this much. I didn’t compare it to any other FTE toners, but many brands offer exfoliating toners with ferments. So if you find this one too expensive, there are other options on the market.
