Shiseido Aqua Label White Care Lotion – Review

Last year, I began to skip cleansing my face in the morning and use toner instead. It seems to work for my skin, so I continue doing that. After finishing the Future Solution LX Concentrated Balancing Softener, I moved on to the Aqua Label White Care Lotion.

The toner includes tranexamic acid as its main ingredient. There’s also a vitamin C derivative (magnesium ascorbyl phosphate), which, I assume, is supposed to increase the brightening potency of this product. We can also find here hyaluronic acid, glutamic acid, and glycerine as moisturising components. On top do that, there are amino acids that improve skin’s functioning. The product includes a mild fragrance composition, and it’s suitable for all skin types.

I’ve got the less hydrating version of the product (moist), there are two, and it’s more than enough for me. Like most Japanese toners, it is very hydrating and instantly plumps up the skin. It has a somewhat viscous consistency yet absorbs instantly into the skin. Honestly, I wouldn’t be able to tell if this toner helps with hyperpigmentation, perhaps to some extent, but I believe if you want to treat hyperpigmentation, you need targeted treatment for that. And I have reviewed many products that can help with hyperpigmentation issues. What I can tell for sure is that this product helps with temporary reddening. Whenever I use this product on irritated skin, be it from shaving or other skincare, this toner helps to take redness down within minutes.

I don’t have much to say about this product other than that I enjoy using it. It’s up to par with Japanese toners, probably not that extraordinary there, but compared to Western toners, it stands out. Its denser consistency makes it easy to use, and the product includes several skin-benefiting ingredients. The toner moisturisers and soothes the skin as well as prepares it for the next steps. Potentially, the product can also brighten the skin, as it contains tranexamic acid, but I wouldn’t be too hopeful about that. Shiseido market it for ‘dark spot prevention’, not addressing hyperpigmentation issues (shiseido.co.jp).
