This cream is one of few products that was not included in this year’s reformulations from the Hada Labo range, which makes me very happy because I can review it. However, the write-up will be short, as the product isn’t that exceptional.
The product contains the sought-after tranexamic acid (TA) as the main active ingredient – TA is known to brighten the skin and alleviate redness. To strengthen the brightening effect, we can also find a vitamin C derivative, 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbate, a stabilised form of ascorbic acid, though not as potent. The formula includes a host of stalwart moisturising ingredients like two types of hyaluronic acid, glycerine, squalane, and petrolatum. The moisturiser is fragrance-free and suitable for all skin types.
Honestly, I couldn’t test it for long on my face, as it clogs up my pores, but I use it as a hand cream, and my hands love it. It’s hydrating and doesn’t feel sticky. As for its brightening properties, when I was using it on my face, I noticed that it slowly brightened some red marks left by spots, but nothing spectacular – I have written about more potent treatments before. On my hands, as I’ve been using it for a few weeks now, I can observe some mild skin tone lightening. My hands and the back of my neck receive the most sunlight, and the skin there is considerably darker compared to the rest of my body. Overall, it does even out the skin tone to some extent, but it’s nothing extraordinary; it takes a lot of time to see changes. However, this product would be an excellent option for people with dry to normal skin, as it is pretty emollient, ideal for cold, winter months. Yet, it has a feather-light, water-gel texture unique to Hada Labo’s moisturisers.
I wish I had more to say about this product, but it’s average. It hydrates the skin and slowly helps to fade some hyperpigmentation. However, I wouldn’t go back to it as I can’t use it on my face, and it takes time to see the promised brightening results. It’s not bad as a daily cream for skin requiring extra moisture, but it’s not great for dealing with pigmentation issues.
