This is one of the original centella asiatica products that sparked the hype around the ingredient a few years ago. Centella asiatica had been used before the hype, but it wasn’t the main ingredient in skincare products.

The ampoule contains mainly centella asiatica leaf water, 85%, there’s also extract from the plant, but in a much lesser concentration. The formula includes moisturising glycerine and hyaluronic acid, as well as soothing allantoin and arginine, which is an excellent antioxidant. There’s a dye in this product, the last ingredient, the chlorophyllin-copper complex; it’s derived from chlorophyll, which is a pigment found in plants. I don’t think it can cause irritation. The product is fragrance-free and suitable for sensitive skin. 

CosRx make a few claims about the product; it’s supposed to control sebum production, keep your spots at bay, soothe and hydrate the skin. When I was using the serum, I saw pretty much all of the results. I think the ampoule made my skin less oily; it was hydrating and felt quite soothing. As for preventing breakouts, I couldn’t notice anything in this area. Whatever had to come out, came out, despite using the product. But, centella asiatica is not an ingredient known to treat blemishes, outside marketing campaigns. Though, I can affirm it hydrates and soothes the skin because I noticed these results when using the product. 

Centella asiatica is a fantastic ingredient; it has become popular over the years for a reason. I don’t think it’s something that would work for spots, but redness and hydration. It calms the skin and helps to replenish moisture. I noticed less sebum production when I was using the ampoule, but it wasn’t a lasting result. I am not entirely convinced about this product. I think it’s a lovely hydrating serum, it contains antioxidants, but it is not a product that will make a massive difference for acne-prone skin. It’s suitable for all skin types and doesn’t cause any troubles.
