Etude Soon Jung 5 Cica Sleeping Pack – Review

This mask was released during the period when Korean brands were introducing cica lines. Just like most of the other products, this one also contains cantella asiatica – the ingredient that we all love and look out for.

This product has a thick and creamy, gel-like consistency, but it absorbs pretty well. A little goes a long way; you don’t need heaps of it unless you need a lot of moisture. I would recommend applying it on damp skin. It leaves a sticky residue if applied on dry skin – it’s best to mist your face beforehand. This mask is full of humectants and moisture-retaining ingredients like glycerine, squalane to name a few. We can find here panthenol, which is soothing and helps to hydrate the skin. Also, a bit of ferment,  I always appreciate ferments in skincare as they do terrific things for my face. The formula includes various components extracted from centella asiatica plants like madecassoside, as well as the pure plant extract (though not too much). All of these were added to heal and calm the skin. In short, the product was designed to moisturise and alleviate skin irritations.

I must admit that I have enjoyed using this sleeping pack a lot. It is hydrating, soothing, and calming to the skin. I reached for this mask whenever my skin was aggravated either by harsh products or other factors like bad weather. It felt like a calming blanket for my skin. After applying the mask, my skin felt and looked better, and it didn’t cause any breakouts or rashes. It’s a proper cica product; there are no fragrance or essential oils in the formula. There are just ingredients to moisturise and soothe the skin. The ingredients list seems long when you look at it, but mainly, there are humectants and emollients. Besides the main ingredients, the additional components are there to make the mask gel-like, I assume. It’s suitable for all skin types, even sensitive ones. Though to be sure nothing bad happens, do a patch test before applying to your face.

I don’t have much to say, other than it does what it says on the box. The mask has a thick texture; it’s moisturising and soothing. It wraps around your face literally. The ingredients are relatively simple, and they shouldn’t pose a problem to anyone. I recommend this mask to everyone as it contains good ingredients and brings great results.
