Aupres are a brand by Shiseido China, and their lineup consists of copies of the original Shiseido products, which are made and sold locally in China. This product is based on the famous Anessa Milk, and Weibo users say that the Aupres Lotion has inherited the same technologies from Anessa. It’s unsurprising because the Shiseido Expert Sun lotions are also updated whenever the Anessa Milk is reformulated in Japan. Shiseido care about delivering quality products, and they do it across all of their brands.
I’ve translated the ingredient list using Google, so there are probably things that could be improved. However, just like the Anessa Milk, this product contains a combination of mineral and chemical filters. There’s quite a bit of alcohol, but its drying effect is mitigated by dimethicone, glycerine, and other hydrating components.
The trace ingredients are elements at concentrations of 0.1% or below in the product. Thanks to that, we can learn that there isn’t much hyaluronic acid or plant extracts in the product, but hopefully enough to benefit the skin. There’s also a bit of fragrance, though I can barely get a whiff of it.
I can’t compare this product to Anessa’s 2024 version, as I don’t plan to try it. Compared to the 2022 version, its texture is much less powdery. Though, the lotion still leaves a smooth finish on the skin and creates a satin-like feel to the touch. This sunscreen has the same issues as the Anessa Milk; this lotion leaves a white cast and can be compared to a white foundation, which I find unappealing. I can apply only about 0.2-0.3g of the product to my face, much less than I usually do. Despite that, it still leaves a white overlay that at least isn’t attention-grabbing. I believe the zinc oxide particles are pretty big.
When I sweat, the product forms milky beads on my skin. Usually, this wouldn’t bother me, but like the Anessa Milk, this sunscreen makes them more visible and whiter than other sun care products. To avoid this, I apply it over other sunscreens, sort of like a tone-up SPF. The good thing is that it can absorb some of the shininess of the products underneath. Though I would feel uncomfortable using it alone, I need more than 8 drops to sufficiently cover my face, and I can’t spread more for aesthetic reasons.
This isn’t a sunscreen for me. I appreciate that this product is less powdery than the Anessa Milk. It feels like a smooth lotion without any grittiness. I am sure Anessa’s fans will like this product, especially as it costs less. It’s a great option to consider if you like this kind of SPF product. It definitely can serve as a good primer because it creates a good canvas for makeup. I will definitely finish my bottle, I don’t know how long it will take me at the speed that I am using it, but I won’t repurchase it.
The Aupres Extra Protection Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50+ is exclusive to the Chinese market, however, you find it on Yesstyle.com [aff]. And the price is actually lower than in Mainland China.
